The second set of three
Beageens were written for the Clavier Contemporain Weekend in the Frederic Chopin Conservatoire, Paris, where it was premiered by the 6- and 7-year old students of the conservatoire. The first three
Beageens were also arranged for piano for the same concert.
The other miniatures in this collection include
A Cheltenham Miniature, which re-imagines Bach's
Bist du bei mir,
St. John's Blues, written as a composition exercise while I was teaching composition at York St. John University, and
A Paris Miniature, written while sitting in a cafe during the Clavier Contemporain Weekend.
